What a beautiful and inspiring endeavor. I was a San Diego tourist trapped in the Superdome and my memoir proved to be most therapeutic for me. I hope this poetry can enrich the lives of many as well regardless of whatever devastating trials we face in life.

This negative review might be understandable insofar as Ridley's book was actually mis-titled. Had he reversed his title and subtitle, the book's thrust might have been more accurately conveyed. Essentially the review faults Ridley for not having written a different book, and thereby fails to deal seriously with his important argument.
Those interested in Ridley's actually very good book might also wish to know about my own book, THE CASE FOR RATIONAL OPTIMISM (Transaction Books, Rutgers University, 2009), which makes quite similar points and arguments, but develops the case for optimism over a rather broader range of subject areas (indeed, answering some of the criticisms in the Times's review). See http://www.fsrcoin.com/k.htm

How is this considered a poem?
How has the being-ness of God been disclosed in this collection of words?
